Your Union Pacific fleet

i just wanted to know what UP engines you all have. I have to many to count but i will try to name as many a possible. Most of these i keep in my showcase but i do play with some of these. Not the scratchbuilt ones.

Big boy #4006

4-8-4 #844

challenger #3985

4 sd45-2’s

one scratchbuilt turbine.

1 2-6-2

2 dd40x’s

7 gp30’s

let’s see what else is down there…

1 sharknose

1 UP speeder

1 UP ballast tamper

2 UP 4-4-0’s

i am waiting for my b-mann 4-8-4.

4 other UP northerns

1 not real but bought anyway 4-6-4

1 city of san francisco

1 scratchbuilt city of los angeles (bare with me if i spell this stuff wrong) The one with the funny looking nose

3 sd70 macks

1 desert victory

2 gp9’s

ok thats all i can count. Hope your collection is as big as mine!! Now to run trains.

UPNUT:

I’m not the world’s biggest UP fan, but if you ‘scratched’ the City of LA, I’d like to see a photo of the ‘funny nose’ E-unit (E-2, BTW). That was one unusual and attractive diesel. Wish someone would put it out commercially (the City of San Francisco also had one, back in the late 'thirties). Back then, UP sported some really unique passenger trains with their early diesels.

Oh, PS: I only have one UP steamer–a “Sports Model” 4-8-2 in Challenger Colors, from BLI. Neat loco, but it’s DC/DCC and since I’m DC, it takes WAY too much power to get moving.

Tom

KATO Union Pacific SD90/43MAC.

Read

One Proto 2000 SD7; that’s it for me.

I have:

2- GP-7’s

2- GP-9’s

2- GP-20’s

3- 8-40B’s

Numerous freight cars

Craig

All I have the engines that are better than UP…CNW, I used to model CNW so I have alot of CNW engines…No UPs…on my old layout and no plans for any in the future. I only own 2 UP cars, One is a walthers cleaning car(at the time no choice in roadname) and a really beat up Athearn 52’ Gon with scrap load.

I have a few:

Lionel Veranda turbine - sound

Athern Challenger 3945 - sound

Atlas Dash 8-40B - sound

Reg DC - 2 GP9, 3 SD9, 2 GP38-2, 1 DDA40X, 2 DD40, 1 SD40-2, 1 SD40T-2, 1 SD45, 2 GP50, 1 FP45, 1 SW 7 cow/calf pair, 1 SW 1500, 2 F7A, 2 F7B, 2 E7 City of SF, 1 SD40-2 Op red block, 1 GP50 We will del, 2 U28C, 1 C449W, 2-40CW, 3 AC4400, 1 U30C, 2 PA1, 1 PB1, 2 RS2, 1 FA1, 2 FB1, 1 FM C liner, 1 MDT switcher, 1 Plasser EM80C, 1 SD? Deseert Storm, 5 4-4-0 Steam, 1 2-6-0 steam, 1 4-8-4 FEF, 1 4-6-2 Lt Pac, 1 4-8-2 Mtn, 1 0-6-0 switcher, 2 rotary Plows - operating, 1 American crane - powered, 1 set track speeder/balast tamper/tie car powered, and probably a few I have forgotten to inventory, and that’s just the UP stuff!! That’s 66 + a few other roads, MP, CNW, etc. Oh, we can’t forget Thomas, Percy, and James!![:D]

UnionPacificNut:

My apologies, I didn’t realize by shortening your forum nickname that I’d insulted you. Still like to see a photo of the E-2 you scratched.

Tom

Oh, and PS: At 67 I think I’m a little old to be called a ‘Dude’, don’t you think? Besides, that moniker isn’t even used in High School, anymore.

I have one:

Atlas (older) GP40-2 #912

This engine made the transition from my old MoPac merger era layout to my new BNSF 2000 era layout. I have an interchange with UP and #912 switches the UP side of the interchange yard.

Ron

I run strictly diesel locomotives. My layout leans more towards the SP but since the merger I started running some UP stuff but now wish I hadn’t done that. I got it into my head that I’ll have to eventually change everything to UP to keep up with the times but now I’m leaning strongly to changing it all back to SP only. The harbor mist gray and armor yellow doesn’t do anything for me like the scarlett red and SP gray does…Anyway, I own:

2 AC4400CW’s

2 GP38-2’s

1 GP 50

1 70MAC

in UP colors …chuck

Oooh I think I can actually answer this one:

Athearn SD40-2, Athearn GP40 (boxed set)
Athearn SW7 (dummy)
Proto 2000 E6B

UP is one road name that doesn’t hang around the round house too long. Anything that comes in yellow paint is an immediate candidate for the paint shop.

Well, let’s see how good my memory is tonight…

  • Lionel Veranda turbine

  • Trix Big Boy

  • Rivarossi Challenger

  • P2k Alco FA/FB set

  • Genesis SD70M

  • Overland SD-40-2 #3300, “UP pulling for United Way” scheme

  • A lotta freight cars

That’s all I can conjure up without actually going downstairs and taking a peek…[:)]

0, nada, none!

Hi unionpacificnut

Who’s Union Pacific??

Sums up my interest in that particular railroad

I do not own anything at all branded for that company and make a deliberate point of not purchasing anything UP branded at all

To the point where once spotted I move to a different area of shelving where nothing UP is located and the two UP cars I had went to the local tip

regards John

Not much UP stuff here unless you count a C&NW waffle side boxcar and SP lumber car. It’s not that I hate Union Pacific it’s just my layout is set in Western PA and I figure it’s best to have most of your freightcar fleet be from roads that operated in your railroad’s area. I do plan to pick up a couple UP boxcars and maybe an auto rack in the future though.

I’ve got;

1 - 4-8-2 Lt. Mountain

1 - 2-8-8-2 Mallet

2 - 8-40 CW’s

Later on this year, I hope to buy a Challenger and set of smooth side passenger cars to pull with it.

Tracklayer

Now where did the guy with the 4-12-2s go…
I have a rivarossi 1960s first run big boy, but a few gears are cracked. It doesnt run more than 5 inches. I am waiting for an unlettered 2-8-0 w/sound from bachmann that I will letter for UP.
I dislike modern UP. I loooooove 1940-1950s UP.

Sure would like to see pictures of the scratch built turbine and City of San Francisco! They should put you in the Guinesse Book of World Reconds as the best 12 year old scratch builder of all time.
