Zientek's Model Trains (and formerly tavern): Another item crossed off the bucket list

I finally crossed another item off my model railroad bucket list: I made it to Zientek’s Model Trains (and formerly tavern) in Chicago. If you are looking for an old-time model train store with lots of stock and hard-to-find items–and lots of things called “kits,”–Zientek’s is the place for you.

I posted some information and photos on my blog at http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.ca/2014/05/zienteks-model-trains-and-formerly.html

Great! I’ll have a double GG-1 with ice and tonic, with peanuts on the side.

ROARING

Sounds like a neat place, I enjoyed reading about it on your blog. I am hoping to get to Chicago sometime this year so hopefully I can check this place out myself. Cash only - I love these kind of places. Thanks.

Cool place, thanks for the report. I get into Chicago on ocassion, so will try to look them up if I’m anywhere near next time I go.

I understand the Tavern is no longer in use, so why are those stools still next to the counter? Look like a great trip hazard.

…and also great for sitting on and talking trains on a kitchen pass away from the wife!

Looks like a nice place to visit!
