I use a MX31 radio , it’s a very good product. All of the Zimo items are simply for use and it’s the only system that can read CV’s and modify them.
I don’t live in California, I’m from France

I went to their web site to get more information. Not a whole lot more there, however there’s a little better picture of the control surface.
No doubt it’s a complete system but spending almost $600 to get your DCC feet wet is a little pricey, especially in this economy.
I don’t have a very big layout but DCC control of my locomotives has always a dream. Oh well, maybe someday.
Rather a high price for a starter set, I havent looked what the set costs here in Europe, but for $ 600,- there are a lot of other sets to think of. The ESU 50000 is around $ 500 and the Lenz 100 set around $ 350, this would have to be a lot better to get me interested.
For a starter set, I like the NCE PowerCab. It’s under $200 and runs 2 or 3 trains. It’s expandable (more cabs and/or boosters) or it can be used as an additional cab with NCE’s more expensive starter sets in the $400 to $800 range.
I’m looking for a starter system, but this price seems high to me. I think i’ll keep up the research.
Im new to the hobby and am trying to make some decisions as to where when and how to get my fet wet. My inexperienced reaction is suprizingly close to others who have commeted here… PRICE IS WAY TOO HIGH !
I found out the hard way that previous Zimo systems were not fully NMRA/DCC compatible, so some decoder functions either did not work or were assigned to completely different buttons. Has that been changed in the meantime?
As a matter of personal taste, for regulating the speed I still prefer an oldfashioned rotating knob over the slider and the thumbwheel.
If this equipment is on a par with other Austrian designed and built electronics I dare speculate its likely worth every penny and them some. In researching the Zimo DCC system I come away very impressed. I’m just getting back to HO modeling after incurring a $10K loss of equipment to thieves while moving 16 years ago. My how things have changed! I’m saving my pennies…(quickly)!
