ZW Clicks

I have a new ZW (about 2 years old now ) with 2 180’s. Recently I’ve noticed that the far right lever is stiffer and harder to push up. Also, it clicks as I move it up.

Has anyone experienced this problem?
Does anyone have a (easy?) fix for this problem?

Thanks,
Craig

Hi Craig,

Pick up a copy of ‘Jim Barrett in the Cackshop Vol 8’. He explains the problem very when and how to fix it.

Here is the link

http://www.ogaugerr.com

go to web store, then Videos, then ‘looking for other backshop volumes’

good luck

Spankybird: Are you certain that he addresses this specific problem? For $20, I don’t want to throw away my hard earned cash and not be able to resolve this problem.
Thanks,
Craig

He does and shows how to fix it easily. No big problem. Loose nut on handle.

Yep, and you also get instructions on how to build a fast acting circuit breaker box. [:D]

Alright you two. You have ALWAYS given me excellant advise, and so I’ve ordered the DVD. I’ll let you know if I experience any problems with the recommended fix.
Thanks again,
Craig

I’d build one of those breaker boxes [shown in the video] if you don’t have one. Good protection even if you don’t have DSC or TMCC.

By the way, this is what Lionel e-mailed me today in response to the same question that I posted to them:

It sounds like a broken gear/bracket assembly causing the handle to
‘skip’ when moved. We suggest taking the unit to a local LIONEL Service
Station for assistance. To find one near you call 1.800.4LIONEL or use
the convenient locator on the LIONEL Website. Thank you.

Great help, huh?

Watch the video. Might save you some money if not under warranty.
