Well have a confusing situation going on which I believe is the ZW I’m using ( I have 3 of them) for the 3 main lines the trip is going as if I’m running my 3 engines 2 PA-1’s ( dual motor) and my tmcc hudson it will trip the breaker in the transformer never did this befor this just started I tried running just two engines ( the PA’s) and it was fine added the steam all was fine for about 2 to 5 minutes tried running the staem one PA all was fine add second PA and fine for a short bit then it trips
So later need to change out A ZW and see if it happens to that one also. Could it be to much for the Transformer 5 motors?
RT I had a similar problem running a two motor F3 and a steamer on a 275 watt ZW. The ZW also supplied constant voltage to 6 022 switches and 2 gates and a145 gate man. Everything ran fine for 15 to 20 minutes then tripped out. In a short time the breaker reset and ran normally for 15 to twenty minutes then tripped out again. My solution was to use a second transformer for one loop and the ZW for the other. Every thing running fine now. Evidently the load was slightly taxing the transformer and slowly heating the circuit breaker.
It could be more than the 15-ampere ZW can handle; but, if you’ve never had the problem before with those trains, you’re right to suspect the transformer. Are the trains that the locomotives are pulling bigger than usual, or do they include more older cars than usual? Is the room warmer than usual?
Have you added any lighted passenger cars or a lighted caboose that was not on the train before? Another possibility is that the circuit breaker is going out and leaning to the lower wattage side. Before suspecting the circuit breaker have you cleaned the contact area inside the ZW? Take the cover off, four screws need to be taken out, and then clean the contact area and look at the roller wheels, are any pitted or damaged? This can cause an extra current draw.
[banghead] it turned out I couldn’t see one of the sets of wheels on one of the PB’s was derail at a certain area in the track so need to go check that area out to see if I might of stepped on that area when I was working on the shelf layout earlier this day. As it ran fine last night so I’m thinking I might have done that. I ran that PB on the 2 track and it ran fine so may just leave it there and switch the PA’s as one PB has sound and one PA has sounds so need to keep the sets the way I have them originally.
Thanks for the replies
