Eric1946
I was born in 1946 in the first wave of baby boomers and have been a train fan for as long as I can remember.
Born too late to have photographed the steam locomotives and first-generation diesels which could be seen in the late 1940s and early 1950s, I try to recreate the photos taken by the rail fans back then using my toy trains.
My particular collecting interest is toy trains made by the Louis Marx Company.
Every year, my wife and I try to take at least two long-distance train trips back east, traveling on Amtrak. (Our trip reports can be found on the Amtrak Unlimited website.) We also have a modest library of books telling the histories of the great passenger trains of yesteryear, and also a few dining car recipe books.
A railroad scanner enthusiast, while on one of our Amtrak trips, I spend most of the day monitoring the messages sent to and from by our trains and between crew members.
For the last ten years, I’ve been submitting photos and articles to Classic Toy Trains magazine.
