I returned to HO scale model railroading in 2017, after about fifteen years in N scale. Glad to be back with no regrets. My layout is called The Carolina Sandhills Lines, and its beginnings were plagiarized from a Gordon Odegard track plan that was in the November 1986 issue of Model Railroader. My layout is set in the area of Aberdeen, North Carolina, where three railroads interchange.
I can swap out motive power, rolling stock, and vehicles to run several different eras.
1967: Seaboard Air Line, Aberdeen & Rockfish, and original Norfolk Southern Ry.
Mid-1970s: Seaboard Coast Line, Aberdeen & Rockfish, and Southern Ry.
Early-to-mid 1980s: Seaboard System, Aberdeen & Rockfish, and Aberdeen, Carolina & Western ( I’m cheating the ACWR by a few years).
1990: CSXT, Aberdeen & Rockfish, and Aberdeen, Carolina & Western RR.
I have a layout build thread on The Railwire: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=41814.0
My layout was featured in an article on Trains.com: https://www.trains.com/mrr/how-to/model-train-layouts/built-by-others-dave-foxxs-ho-scale-carolina-sandhills-lines-layout/
