Lived in NJ all my life. Grew up behind Erie RR tracks; that road is near and dear to me. So is the Reading from my father’s roots in Reading PA. I knew some railroaders well on each line, which made the tie very personal. Born in 1941, I saw plenty of steam on both roads.
