1950's CN passenger interior

I am assembling Branchline kits of heavyweight CN passenger cars. To hide the uniform grey of the interior casting, I want to paint the seats. But I don’t know what colour. Red, burgundy, brown, green, etc.

I recognize that actual experience may be limited, so any suggestion would be appreciated.
