19 different locomotives, of which 1010 was the third, were used. 1010 was a Vauclain compound with 79 inch driving wheels, rather than the 69" drivers it has today…

Ronald Reagan was the host of Death Valley Days in the later years of the series. Don’t think the DVD stories would have translated that well to most of Australian life to warrant being imported in the 1950’s when the series was on US TV.
That was one of the most enjoyable 25 minutes I’ve spent in a long time! I haven’t seen “Death Valley Days” since I was a little boy. I don’t remember every show but I DO remember the show itself. We loved it!
And it was great seeing “The Old Ranger” again, although for some reason he doesn’t look as old as he used to.
