If you are interested in nostalgia and Lionel Postwar Trains, you will really enjoy this episode of The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet titled “The Electric Train” from 1955. You will see lots of Lionel trains in action on the living room floor and a larger layout at the hobby shop. Ozzie can also bee seen paging through the 1954 Lionel catalog. It’s a funny episode too. When you have a free half hour, talk a look, I think you will enjoy it too.
Thanks for the link and after having watched, a couple of comments here, that I’d like to share. The first is how good natured those shows from that era were, compared to the sarcastic tones of similar shows today. Another is how deeply embedded toy trains were in the culture, and how this remains with us, what? Fifty years later? The last is that this has to be the longest commercial for Lionel Trains under product placement I have ever watched, which is great. Think that was a Gilbert chemistry set that went by the wayside? Many a foul smelling and explosive experiment was conducted in my preteen lab. I remember one joking experiment, a friend played on his Dad and hooked up live voltage to a doorknob, thinking he’d get a mild shock. Old Dads hand became a stuck solenoid whose blistering use of inventive language …that would make Ozzie blush… was awe inspiring

My thoughts, too. Almost an infomercial for Lionel. Would love to know the “back story” on how this episode came about, how Lionel trains (and boxes) were so prominent, and who from Lionel worked with Ozzie on this program. Sounds like a good CTT article for Roger Carp to research. [:)]
Hi David- How do I start the episode on that sevenload site. I can access the website and I see the viewing window, but I can not view the episode, where is the start button? Clint
