2-6-6-2 Baldwin in Cuba

Negative No. 6193, Baldwin 2-6-6-2 Mallet built in 1917.
Built as road number 18 for Manati Sugar Company.

Anybody know about this loco? I have builder’s photo and specs. I want to know about it’s life, serial number, builders number, etc.
Also, was it a single-piece or articulated Mallet?

There are several Baldwins still currently operating in eastern Cuba with the Central Rafael Freyre near the town of Holguin. However, these Baldwins are seven 2-8-0s. However with 400 steam locos still chugging on one island, the Baldwin you are describing may very well still be in operation. The September 2000 issue of TRAINS goes in-depth into the Central Rafael Freyre. Sorry I couldn’t locate your specific Baldwin.

I was there in April. Afterwards, in preparing the article I’m writing, I’ve checked the various Cuban sites and bought the Zafra CD-ROM which lists, supposedly, all the steamers still in Cuba.
I don’t expect this loco to exist any longer. What I’d like to do is learn more about it’s service life, when it ended, its disposition, etc.
