2 Amtrak incidents, both in NY state

Apparently, Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited struck a tractor-trailer whose driver drove it around lowered crossing gates. I understand it was a fatal incident. So very sad for all involved! WHEN will people learn??!! I couldn’t seem to find very much on it. Anyone got the full details? Thanks.

In a separate incident, Amtrak also caught fire near Schenectady NY, also with the Lake Shore Limited, I believe.

Hasn’t been a good week for the Lakeshore.

Not that it’s got the greatest reputation for on-time performance, although I think that’s improved somewhat of late.
