2 train operation methods

Is it possible these days to achieve 2 train operation on the same layout using Fastrack and Fastrack switches with a pass through siding. What about using a mix of old and new trains. Is it possible?

Im familiar with the Greenberg Wiring books but they are older and do not have info on Fastrack type track and TMCC engines. I would like to avoid having to use a Cab1.

Yes!

The same principals apply to Fastrack. TMCC engines can be operated as conventional engines.
