2-window U-boats

I bought a couple of aftermarket cabs for my U25C: I had a 4-window version and the new ones are 2 window. Before I drill, score and file my way to 4 windows, anybody know offhand what RRs used U-boats with the two window arrangement? A cursory look on railpix and rrpicture archives didn’t yield much except for some Family Systems units that looked like plates had been bolted over the fore and aft of what had originally been 4-window units.

Thanks-

Mike

If you a following a particular prototype, why don’t you do whatever it was they did?

The extra windows were eliminated when the railroads were required to replace windows with safety material. Some railroads just put a plate over the extra windows and welded them. Others did a little more expensive fix and made the plates the same size as the windows, and then used the existing window gaskets.
