2009 Coffee Pot. Here we gather with friends with trains for chats, 4 years of coffee and sweet ice tea.

FIFE,

I only got a few boxes from him. BOY RAISINETTES, I like GOOBERS. Wish you could munch on them? I’ll have my eyes peeled for them at YORK. The tipple coal that is.

laz57

Hi all!

Just a quick one…

Laz: I saw this a Walthers, but don’t know anything about the size.

Faller Gmbh Coal 140 grams
Walthers Part # 272-170723, p. 356 Walthers 2009 HO Scale Reference
A scale, $4.99, currently in stock at Walthers

Kurt

LOOKS good KURT. I don’t know if I can use it for the rotary tipple? They recomend the Lionel tipple coal, the stuff that looks like rat turs, so says DA CHIEF.

Thanks KURT,

laz57

Kurt, believe it or not, that stuff is too small. Even the older Lionel coak is too small. The gearing in the rotary would jam up in a jif. I’d say we would need to start in the bead section.

Laz I’m sorry but I don’t like GRYZBOSKIS as there know to do that. I believe they get away with it because its hobby related but if it was gasoline or lumber ect ect you could report them for price gouging and they would be fined. I try not to deal with them as the other big names seem to have just as good sales if not better.

Did you not get my email were Lionel customer suport told me they were going to be ordering more of that coal like in Feb or March. Who knows I sometimes wonder if thats not just a quote there given to say.

Not to much happening here. waiting to talk to Lionel tech support again to find out whats the difference between the 2 different electro couplers I found for my engine other than $10.00 each.

Hey chief have you heard theres supose to be another northern invasion for the next week supose to be dropping down into the 20’s at night a few days even. So if its that cold here I know its colder there where you are.

Talk to you all later

Oh what a day it has been! Tired and getting ready to head to the house.

Doug, I know about how ministry work/church can get to be too much. I very rarely ever get to sit with my wife during a service. Just about every weekend, I am working lights. If we go together, I have to get there 1/2 hour before the service. She brings the children, but as usual, the child care workers don’t get there on time and so she ends up watching the class and often is stuck through the service. Like they say, 20% of the people do 80% of the work. Important thing is to remember that the family comes first. We make sure we go out every Sunday for Dinner and as much as possible, we spend our time together.

Well, my last patient has gone to recovery, so I will check out. Hope everyone has a great night.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good evening all, I’m still waiting for AT&T to do something with my secondary phone line being out for over a week. This is all happening with fair weather and no natural problems. Only problem is AT&T.

Got a newsletter today from MTH. I can’t believe it but it’s true. MTH and Lionel are collaborating on a new project to reproduce prewar classic trains with original logos and box printing etc. Nice to see they have burried the hatchet. Looks like the almighty dollar makes strange bed fellows. Anyway, more power to both of them. Just wish all this had happened 10 years ago when I had more cash to blow.

Ray

Evening all. Wind did blow!!! Rains came and went. Wind still blowing. Sometimes up to 50+ miles per hour. Hope to get is a little train time tomorrow. Watching Western. Later.

Hang on, Chief! Boy, nothing like coming home to a quick supper and diving into ‘simplifying radicals’ with the middle son. Whew - thank goodness for Google. Dennis, you are so right.

Good Evening All

32 and slippery out there. Made it to the train store and saw a bunch of new stuff. Yes I got my set, like it except the engine has two axles with rubber tires and two with magnatraction. The rubber tires make the power trucks wobble a little. Not much but I can see it.

Neighbors dog barked all nite I had very little sleep. She says they forgot to let him in and nobody in the house heard the dog. I told her all the neighbors did.

Still have a good supply of banilla so drop by…S.J.

Laz, Thanks for the reminder. I was going to mention ROGER BEILEN’s layout being in CTT, but forgot it until I saw your post. Congrats Roger.

Jon, That was a very nice article, thanks for the link.

ndnboy, Welcome to the coffee pot. Now for the sales pitch. The TCA convention will be in Baltimore in 2010. If you are not yet a member, now is the time to sign up.

Was planning to go to the Greenberg show in York on Saturday, but it will depend on the weather as snow is predicted. I no longer drive in snow except in emergencies.

Evening all!

Nice day today. 50s/60s and more of the same, maybe even 70s for rest of the week and weekend.

Poor Buckeye - kidney stones and another OSU bowl loss. I assume Buckeye land is looking like the scenary in Blade Runner.

Jim F - good to hear about your sister.

John F - whenever it snows in OHIZO I try to stay inside eben though I am in Texas…

Wife has a check up medical procedure tomorrow so we have to be at the clinic at 7 am - UGH.

She doesn’t get to eat and thus is not happy.

Chief - thanks for the good news about Jack!

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Thanks guys, she’s fine but sore today. Said her eyes were burning, apparently from powder from the airbag (singular!). Got to email chat with Sir James for a couple minutes, but he had to hit the hay. Said something about getting Chief to come up on the Tardis and try some sharpshooting for a local nuisance? [:-^]

Laz - is this coal more like tic-tacs?

Had a nice talk for a few minutes this morning with an old friend from work who retired. He was a MSGT in the USMC in Vietnam and actually is featured in a couple books - a real nice old Grandad NOW though. He’s very involved at his church and expecting a new g-daughter in June. His wife passed away about a month ago, so it was good to see him and see that he was doing okay. 2008 was sure a tough year on everybody, hope 2009 lets up a little.

A little snow tonight, they say, but nothing big. Oh well, have to work tomorrow I guess. Tardis is ready and we got the confetti cleaned up in the tv room, so could watch some of the dvr’d extreme trains tonight? We’ve been watching the first season of Petticoat Junction on dvd and it was just a good old show. Lots of fun train stuff in the first few episodes especially. Okay, here we go! [;)]

Jon, That was a very nice article, thanks for the link.

jefelctric (John)

If I owned the TV station and the newspaper there would be a lot more of that type of news. I’ll never understand why we rarely hear the “good news”.

Jon, that was good. Sir J., Arf Arf Arf Speaking of Arf Arf, Lucy is off to the vet’s tomorrow AM for an operation. She has been wearing a diaper for the last two days because her Mom put it off too long. Back to Big Country on Westerns Channel. Good night all.

Sorry for the hiatus from the Pot. As difficult as it is for some of you to imagine, I was the one who got out-talked by Chief. Chief hunted me down like a hunter with a pack of coon dogs on a mission. By the time the conversation was over, I had developed a Southern drawl. If the conversation had continued much longer, I would have been the recipient of instructions on the proper way to prepare grits during a power outage caused by an ice storm.

Passed a few miles South of Doug Murphy just after Christmas on Interstate Route 90 headed West. Word to the wise. Don’t drive over the river and through the woods to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa’s house 1,042 miles one way non stop in an 8 passenger SUV with the family. It took 20 hours out and 18 on the way back, primarily because the ladies displayed bladders the size of a pea which necessitated a million pit stops. Every time they lifted a bottle of water to their lips, I winced and had to start looking

Jack!

It’s good to have you back.

Northwoods Flyer

WOW !!! Sure is a lot going on, On the POT, in the Forum, Off the Forum, just everywhere !!

[#welcome] NDNBOY ! Good to have some new folks here, looking forward to fresh ideas, don’t become dismayed by the banter, MOST of these guys are harmless.

Looking forward to the next hobby oriented magazine, hopefully will find some new ideas and applications. Went down to the AGHR train club tonight, even though I’ve had some issues, there are still a lot of guys I really enjoy. So I’m sure I will still stay involved, probably not as much as before, but involved nevertheless. Spent significant time taking pictures of a wayward boxcar. Working on a theme for this weekends SPF.

Need to put out a plea for help! We’re going broke! Its been announced that as a result of not having a state budget, the state run’s out of money the 1st of Feburary. Any tax refunds will be done with IOU’s, layoff’s are imminent, fire and police will be shut down, schools closed, life as we know it will be over. So, send recipes for grits, porkbellies, chitlins, scraple, hobo stew, and any think else you can think of, its going to get desperate. People are already talking about packing up the truck, and headin east. (May need some extra room in the Tardis.)

Jon - As everyone has previously said that link was well worth the time and very good! Surprised its not in email form being sent all over.

Glad to see Rock Island is back! You’ve been missed, since you have been away Buckeye has gone into hibernation suffering from depression, I think. Chief has revereted to talking to himself and trying to keep out of trouble.

And all the other stuff, just to much to mention. Good luck on Sunday, Jim!</

Morning!

Lee: $300 is still less than an new TV.

Phish: I believe it’s God, Family, and everything else, and remember the story of Jesus going to dinner at the woman’s house, where she worked before, during, and after dinner, and didn’t spend time with Jesus. Can you send an email on where I can get the homily?

Don: Yikes grits recipes??? I’ll send some Michigan poatoes. Friends don’t let friends eat grits.

Dennis: Great news on the movie Award nomination! Best of luck!

HD is in! With drama. Bride spent 40 minutes on phone, because operator that took the order didn’t enter the order correctly.
