Did you treat the cedar shakes with anything? We just made a 1 storey train station and are trying to figure out whether to treat the shingles or just let them weather naturally.
I give all my exposed wood a good spray of Behr “Wood-toned Weatherproofing” including the shakes. Mine are split versus being sawed so that helps a little too. I do use different colors for different roofs. The only issue I’ve had with the weather was a strong hail storm last year that broke some shakes which had to be replaced.
Hope this helps and sorry it took so long to reply - been busy trimming trees.
Check you local Michael’s. In the cake decorating section they have a full set of “team in the field” with “team at bat” batter and next at bat. They NEED to be painted before going outside.
All looks good (I really like the depot and shay). Only thing is I’d hate to be watching the game from behind home plate when someone hits a foul ball[;)]
Now that I’m finished trimming the bushes into a forest that looks more like trees I can spend some time finishing up that “backstop” and maybe find some real players for the baseball team. I did put in a log pond with a pump that will run the water wheel on the grist mill. Pictures to come soon.
