The 2025 Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show is completed. 2-day attendance, including staff and vendors, was 27,000. Who was there, and what did you find?
Thanks for posting.
Rich
I had a blast at the show this year! Spent some time volunteering at the NMRA Booth and some time running on the Northeast T-Trak Layout both Saturday and Sunday, which was great fun!
Managed to take second prize for Diesel Locomotives in Northeast N-Trak’s “Winterfest 2025” with my custom painted Atlas RS-1, and third in Freight Cars with my weathered cylindrical covered hopper, earning me a pair of boxcars.
I also picked up a bunch of Con-Cor PA-1 and PB-1s from a friend, a couple boxcars (including an HO car to be repainted and lettered for my freelance and sent to a friend) and the real score, a pair of Rapido N Scale New Haven Osgood Bradley coaches, bringing my total number up to 4 now!
And on top of all of that, I got to meet so many of the people I knew from online chats and YouTube face to face, and I have the swapped stickers to prove it!
I’ll post pictures when I get home from work tonight, but it was an excellent show!
Lombard Hobbies was at the Amherst show and was having a blow out sale. Got 4 Wheels Of Time b/h flat cars at $25 each plus tax.
Was there both days and got to meet some awesome people. Even ran into several old acquaintances. Came away pretty much empty handed, but helped my friend from Korea generate a few sales leads for his company so it was all good. Glad to be back in warm Florida again. Got some trains to ride and a couple of ops sessions to attend this week as well as a trip over to Mississippi to show my friends the Traintastic Museum.
It seems a good time was had by all.

We went on Sunday. I wasn’t looking for anything special so the smaller crowd was nice. Met up with Neal and Dick (Maxman), good to put a face with a name. Did get a couple of Laser Cut kits from BEST, no special pricing, saved on shipping but had to pay sales tax so was a wash. Looked like their inventory was low so must have been a good show for them.
Regards, Chris
Nice to meet up with you Chris. Wish I could have talked longer but our booth was swamped! Thanks again!
The show was great and the people that passed by my booth had many with bags full of train goodies. That’s a great sign for the hobby!
Cheers!
Neal
Neal, I replied to your email, but I’ll continue here.
It was nice to meet with you and Dick, known here as Maxman. Always good to put a face with a name. Your EastCoast Circuits vehicles are awesome! Can’t believe the amount of work that goes into them. No worries about your limited time to chat, it was obvious your booth was very busy.
And Dick, also my pleasure meeting you. Your loads looked fabulous as well, not just the usual ones we see everywhere. I certainly will say hello again next year.
Regards, Chris
Despite years of saying, “Never again!” the lure of model trains, being amongst fellow enthusiasts and a day away from the everyday routine, beckons yearly to give it another go.
Upon arrival it does not take long to recall the stern warning. In as few words as can be stated: It is dark, cold, badly lit, unswept and chock full of rude “model railroaders” all shoving in a frenzy toward that orange-and-blue box imagined to be somewhere…
Sorry, but it really stinks. The restrooms dreadfully so.
Never again!
LOL.
You will probably be back next year, Clinton.
Rich
I tend to agree about the restrooms. However, a lot of that was due to the fact that certain individuals can’t manage to not leave their mark on the porcelain.
Regarding the rest, a gross exaggeration. There were roughly 27,000 people attending over the two days. I presume you were the only one not rude.
GASP!!!
Restrooms in the BLC left a lot to be desired!
Final official attendance foer the 2 days was 27,535. This includes 3,500 for vendors, exhibitors, and show staff.
We have 'Doncaster Model Show this weekend. Normally I attend, but not this year. With Dawn being disabled she would stay at the hotel we stay at, but there is nothing for Dawn to do whilst there.
Oh well, maybe a local show soon and I take our granddaughter?
David
27,535, how close is that to all time record?
Regards, Chris
That is a decent attendance, especially in the winter and the weather.
Rich
It was a record attendance
