736 - Out of the box and back in service

I have’nt run this engine for a few years. Now that I’m back in business with a new layout, shes got a place to run. I rewired the tender and it sounds great.
For anyone whose looking for a great postwar engine these Berkshires are hard to beat. Take a look - Click to enlarge

nothing like post war steamers, and the Berkshires are some of the best. My 726 is all original, creeping up on it’s 60th birthday.

The others are a 681 on the lower level and a 675 above.

The 736 is one of my favorites also, it looks great pulling a string of either postwar passenger or freight cars. But you can’t forget about these classics[:D]

It’s good to see that I’m not the only one with a layout on raw plywood or Homasote, leaving the trains, structures and accessories the focus of the layout.

Nice engines gentlemen. I love these three, 675(2025), Berk and turbine as well. They are still so much fun to run. My fav out of these is the my 2025. It’s a beautiful looking model and it is probably one of Postwar Lionel’s smoothest running motors ever. Can run like a clock if lubed and taken care of.

well, Bill, sorry to say, that is my old temp layout. I have been working on a new detailed layout that won’t show a lick of plywood when done. Follow the link in my sig line for the way-too-slow progress.

Hey Ya’ll

The Berk, Turbine, and F3 are true Lionel Icons. I can’t imagine what the hobby would be like if they weren’t made.

I’d buy a 736, but the ones I usually see are up in the $400’s. So, until I have the will power to save that much I’ll have to make due with just the 681 and 675. Don’t have them yet, but they are easier for me to attain.
