My 736 berk only runs in reverse. It will smoke and buzz just fine in neutral, reverse is also good. Just no forward. Where should I start at-enuit rebuild?

Does it try to run in forward? If not, I’d check the contacts on the e-unit first.
I would squirt some contact cleaner on the e-unit drum first. Also check that all of the fingers in the e-unit are making good electrical contact with the drum. Some of the fingers are a little hard to see because they are behind the drum but you will be able to see them. Check that the e-unit cycles with each power application. Check all wiring to make sure there are no loose wires.
