I just got a 773 built in 1950 and plan to run it on a display loop with no switch machine lights, but pulling 5 Madison cars with total 10 light bulbs. Can I run this on a 110watt RW or will that be be insufficient?
This is not a very big transformer. Lionel claims only 70 watts continuously and about 19 volts (A-U). It may fall short in both power and voltage, since the 773 is designed for a fairly high voltage. A type Z (25 volts), or maybe a ZW (21 volts), would be a better transformer for this train.
Ok-- First thing I have to check is if I have the A-U combination in use or the B-U combination . I do have an extra ZW but don’t want to use it on this application.
