I am looking for drawings and pictures of these “shorty” tank cars as i have a small fleet of them to build and i want to detail them like the prototype. I have scoured the internet looking for info but other than a few pictures i have drawn a blank. Where would be a good place to find more info/drawings…your help and knowledge is appreciated!!! Thanks
For the most part those cars were withdrawn from service decades ago. It seems like most railfans did not want to “waste” film on freight cars, so before digital photography, photographs of freight cars are relatively scarce. Therefore, it will not be easy to find photographs of them.
Try http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rsPicture.aspx?NumCols=2&aid=T103&Page=1, however most will probably be 10,000 gallons or more. Also, try http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/, they seem to have a higher percentage of older photographs.
