90 Deg Crossing - Wiring

Can anyone tell me how to wire 90 deg crossings? Because of the insulated rail do I have to jump wires from one rail to the other?

Thanks Bob

Bob:
Because you mentioned insulated rail, can I assume that this crossing has plastic frogs where the rails cross? If it does, you don’t need any special wiring. You can test it out by puting a wired section of rail on one side and another section on the other and seeing if a loco runs across.
On the other hand, there should be no connection to the track going across the other way; the two routes are independent.
If you have a crossing that is all rails, you have a lot of work, usually involving a DPDT switch and depending on the situation in your layout.

hiin most cases no, the leght of the loco should span the electrical gap. but u might need to connect if u run shorl locos or ones that dont ahve all wheel pickup

Thanks, David and Matt. I’ll try running through the crossing but I am running small trolleys so I’m not sure if they’ll make it through. Thanks again,
