I picked up an old 97 Coal Elevator a while ago that needed some fixing up. I cleaned it up and re-painted, ( thanks, Jim - green97probe ) re-did some of the wiring. Every thing works fine, noisy, but but runs well. Might take a couple hours for the bucket conveyor to load the storage bin on top of the elevator.
So what is the best spacing between tracks - I have the track at 14-1/2 inches, but think this is a little too tight. Any input ?
13-1/2" outside rail to rail - that would be 14-3/4" center to center. I’m going to adjust my track a 1/4 inch. Also drop in a O-22 switch for the siding to serve the coal elevator and place some uncouple magnets for switching. So I have some track work and wiring to do.
I have mine set at 15" from center rail to center rail. I actually think a little bit more space would be even better as the coal sometimes over shoots the car being loaded from the tower.
