Not long ago, my Bowser A-5 shifter started binding and jumping. Today, I finally pulled it apart, and found that the axle gear had split! I thought I was going to have to order a new one, but then I compared it to a common Athearn 23 tooth gear, and it was an exact match![:D] I stuck the gear in, and the switcher runs like new![:D]
You can clearly see the split in the Bowser gear. I guess I was fortunate to have a couple extra Athearn gears sitting around![:D]
What a good picture, Darth. Not only to show the two gears, with one clearly split, but we get to see your nice switcher. What a great engine that must be.

It is a great engine.[:D] The only steam engines I have that run as smooth as this one are my Spectrum 2-8-0 and my Genesis 2-8-2. There are others that do come close, but this is definitely my best switcher.[:D]
Cool fix, Darth. Who woulda’ thunk it… Athearn gears can resurrect P2K’s, and now Bowser. You could no doubt use an Athearn worm, too. Did everyone steal from Irv?
