A busy day in the workshop today.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share with you what I got accomplished today.

After getting off to a late start, i took the SD40-2 I am working for a friend, and sanded the eggshell off of it. Then after giving it a quick bath, I put on a final coat of primer. I hope to have it painted orange tomorrow. Then I took one of the passenger cars that I am doing for a client, and did a test lettering for the client, He isn’t quite sure how he wants it lettered so I came up with something and will see if he likes it. Finally I took the 50 foot Plug Door Box Car that I am painting for GN and put the decals for the end numbers and one side on. It is now drying as I write this.

I hope everyone had a good day. I certainly did.

James- And to think I was pleased with the effort I put into making toast to go with lunch! Sounds like you did indeed have a profitable day.
Right now I have about 30 car kits, 6 or 8 building kits and I don’t know how many other projects lurking in the wings, all waiting on spare time (like the unicorn, a mythical creature) to work on them. Added to this 7 2x8 layout sections waiting to be stripped and salvaged of usuable items, and it makes the task seem even bigger than it is.
But at least I can read of people doing good works. Let me know if the client liked your ideas.

Hi Phil,

I am just glad I am getting something done. I think the right cirucumstances of me being on vacation, being left alone. And the desire to accomplish something co-incided and I now have a sense of momentum, Hopefully I can maintain it through my last semester of college.

My current projects: (or rather my current buying of tools so someday soon I can complete these projects.)

Building a Laserkit of a CB&Q tool house/speeder shed.

Detailing an Accurail boxcar. (I’m putting corner grabs on the running board, and maybe later I’ll put brake lines on it.)

We made a couple of freight cars this evening (See the R to R v Kit thread) and I completed the weathering / grime job on my main mine buildings. I just need to get the parts to kit ba***he actual mine head gear and it will be completed. Off to the train room now to watch 2 proud little boys run this evenings projects. I am pleased to say that the TV has not even been turned on this evening!!

After dinner tonight I went down to the workshop and decaled the other side of that GN box car. I should be able to put on a coat of clear coat tomorrow.

My current “thing” in the works is the laying of risers on my foam base. Since for the most part, the double track on risers run parallel, so I use my radius tool to mark the center line between. Its coming along fine.

I can’t wait 'til I start attaching cork roadbed! That is pleasurable.

i got my helix and tunnel marked ready to cot and 4 ft of road done.hope i can stay busy
