A flat car sitting alongside a rail line abandoned 100 years ago.

The ancient flat car seen here was discovered along the rail bed of the long abandoned Frank and Grassy Mountain railway, in Alberta Canada. This line, built to service coal mines in the area, was shut down in 1913. The car is relatively intact and appears to be missing it’s decking. The trucks and wheels are also gone

I’d sure love to find out how it came to being here.

Hunch - since the car appears to be upside down - it got derailed, was rolled off the right of way and the carrier continued operations after track was restored. Cars are frequently rolled off the track structure to expedite restoration of operations.

I agree. Plus the car is all wood, which was obsolete by 1910. Trucks, or truck parts, were worthe the trouble to salvage so they did.
