In 1966? No. It’s still uncommon enough today that when trains are disfigured and/or vandalised with graffiti, it gets a mention in the news media.
Cheers,
Mark.

Yeah, nothing’s changed. I’ve been in some out-of-the-way places in Japan, and the only thing I’ve copped were a lot of curious, but friendly, stares.
Cheers,
Mark.
“Mate, why not?”
I was just curious…Japan has some fantastic scenery…
I’d love to see some layout photo’s!
My favorite and second favorite… heck the listing is…
PRR… love the K-4’s
Canadian Pacific… Royal Hudson #2860 nuff said…
CSX - I Drive past them every day on the way to work and the Curtis bay train yard filled with Bi Level and Tri Level autoracks…
B&O - I love chesse the kitten and my son and I visit the B&O museum 3 times a year.
5/6) Tie of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern… I love the paint schemes…
B&M/MEC It’s a tie, I model both in the 70’s in HO
PRR, I’ve always loved the PRR, even run a K4 on my B&M layout from time to time [:D]
Southern Pacific, no real reason here, just developed a liking as a kid and held on to it
Yes, there is some amazing scenery in Japan - and yet what I find most interesting are the railroads that are crammed in to typical Japanese urban settings. Like the Enoshima Dentetsu - ‘Enoden’, which threads its way through narrow streets, behind shops and houses, and between blocks of flats. As a result my scenery tends towards the mundane.

I have some photos of the portable part of the layout on my Fotopic pages.

I’m not much chop taking photos now, as these days I’m blind in one eye, so they are the handiwork of a mate, Dave M. When the fixed part of the layout starts to look more presentable, I intend to have him over to take some more!
Cheers,
Mark.
