Guess who had had enough of the personal attacks in the “Train jumping…” thread?
If you’ve used this forum enough you probably know by now that I’m even-tempered about the vast majority of conversations that take place here and that I rarely censor posts. However, if you a reminder or if you’re new, here’s what I don’t like (in other words… things I will take action on):
Swearing… if you wouldn’t see it in our magazine, you shouldn’t use it here.
Personal attacks… from nit-picking grammar to “my railroad’s better than yours,” they get us nowhere. If you get so mad at something you’ve read that you have the urge to fire a personal attack, walk away from your computer for a while. Trust me, I have to do it myself sometimes. Don’t let your emotions control your typing.
Above all, we want you to enjoy your time spent here, and I think you all do or you wouldn’t keep coming back. Just try to be civilized and remember that this isn’t the third grade (and my dad can’t beat up your dad).
I have met some great people here like Joe and Locomutt and Cherokee woman. And you can’t leave out Ed and Da’ Mook. I appreciate all the kindness from everyone and I stay away from the rest.
Hey bergie, If you haven’t already, you should post this on the model railroader side of things, there’ve been a couple of arguments that have got heated there too, and I think they would benifit from this message too.
I agree Brian. [:)] There are a lot of folk in this Forum who have been a real help, and have been patient, particualrly with the downunder questions. [;)]
Hi Folks,
I need to fade my part of the heat, too.
And just so there is no mis-understanding(note I used a hypen)
I like railfans.
Been know to sneak their cameras into the yard and shoot a photo for some.
Have even sent a few goodies in the mail to a couple of y’all.
Stop by the North Yard, I might even find you a nice seat, and show you how flat yard switching is done.
But the one thing I have to impress on everyone reading this is…
If you do not work for my railroad, you do not belong on my train.
Period.
Because, even if it was your choice to sneak a ride, it’s my responsibility if you get hurt, because it’s my train.
For those of you who were offended by anything I wrote, blame me, not Trains.com.
I am sorry if I did offend some of you.
For those of you who took it personal, some of it was, but most of it wasnt.
And if you found it humorous, or funny, glad you got a laugh out of my being silly.
Guys, please don’t hesitate to e-mail the subject title (with it’s corresponding link) of any forum topic that’s getting out of hand… whether it’s here or on the Model Railroader portion of these forums.
Bergie:
I agree with Noah H., you should post the same thing on the MR forum. It can get a little insulting on some of the posts there as well. There were a few threads about David Barrow’s layout in MR Planning that got pretty heated between a coupler of people, not to the point you’d have to censor the posts-but insults are definently not needed on forums made by Kalmbach, especially when we are all interested in the same hobby.
Bergie- I’m closer toAlton and Springfield than Galesburg or the Rock, but From my town you can get to the Quad Cities within 4 hours. In fact, i have relatives in Rock Island and I’m going to galesburg Railroad Days this June. If you know where Jacksonville is, Carrollton is a few towns south of there on the KCS’s old Gateway Western tracks.
