A little trivia for you serious railfans.

Ok, for all you serious train buffs out there, this should be a piece of cake.
(btw, that is not me on the unit, it is my friend and co-worker, and yes, I work for a railroad) Kale and James please do not answer this ?.

Ok, here goes:
What is the difference between this unit, and all the DMIR’s other engines.

EDIT

Yep, sorry about that Datafever.

I am posting a new picture, but everything is still there from the old one:

note I brightened the picture ALOT to give you the chance to see every detail.

OK!!! I won’t answer.

James

Because you work with us! lol

It doesn’t have a turbo.

That is corect. I have no idea how you got that…but ok. There are still 2 other main factors.

ditch lights on the back

Dang. I said it was easy! But one more big difference.
Be back tomorow.

The number on the numberboard.

The switchman/conductor has no face!

He’s saving it…[:)]

It hasn’t been rebuilt, the old road number gives it away.

That is also correct, they were renumbered in the 300 series when DMIR rebuilt them.
Buuuuuuuuuut there is one other thing, so keep guesing![8D]

It has been repainted in the old color scheme.

That is actually the new scheme.
And CSSHEGEWISCH, it is rebuilt, but we kept it #193 for operating purposes.

Is it an EMD SD18?

It was. DMIR chopped its nose, and did some electrical mod’s, so it is now classified SD-M.

No one ever noticed that last difference! Anyone want to guess now?

The original pic comes up as a broken link. Can you repost it?

Thank you for the repost, coborn.

I have no clue as to what the differences might be, but I did have a question about the unit.

What is that “box” on top just behind the cab with the rod sticking out of the top?

Looks to me to be a 38-series type air cleaner box. The rod sticking up is something in the background, I think (like a light pole etc).
