A question for all you XtraCad experts out there

In between installing my new turntable, reading/posting on the forum, and taking care of my ebay customers, I’ve been playing around with XtraCad… I have a lot of experience with AutoCad and Solidworks so I know How to use a CAD program (just to get that out of the way)… My question is, Is there a way to pan and zoom without using the predefined zoom buttons and that silly window navagator window ? In other words, With autocad, I can hit the Z (for zoom) key, select what I want to zoom in on, and then there it is… Lack of that, in my opinion, is about the only thing keeping this from being a great program for layout design. It’s good already, and for free it does a lot but it could be a little better… Or Does it lack that feature?

Jeff

I haven’t used the other programs, so I didn’t know that the silly navigator window was silly[:)] – I thought it was useful! Give it a chance. Left-click on the spot you’re interested in (in the silly window) then drag with the right mouse button to zoom in and out.

You can also create two preset zoom levels if you have certain sizes that you like to go back to. When you have a zoom-size that you like, hold down Ctrl and Shift, then left click on the zoom-in (+) or zoom-out (-) button. Then when you hold Shift and click on that button, you’ll return to your preset zoom.

By the way, I agree that zooming methods isn’t a strong suit of the software, but very usable.

Thanks, Jack, I’ll give it a try…
