Aconsist is a multiple loco lashup. 2 or more locos hooked up together and operrated by one of the locos in the consist. If im wrong Ill hear about it im sure.
J.W…pirate for hire
A consist is locos that are assigned to all operate together. Such as if you have a double header you link the two locos together to form a consist,
That’s right.
oh Btw there is no stupid question.[:D]
Welcome, Newbie;
There is only one stupid question in model railroading: Which is better, Atlas or Kato? That question is so stupid it gets ask eight to ten times each week.
Why is this question stupid?; because I have been up on this forum for four and a half months now and I’ll bet you dollars to donuts I have seen that question fifty times if I have seen it once.
CONSIST:
THE TRAIN
A group of locomotives pulling THE TRAIN.
Although some say otherwise, there most certainly are stupid questions. They show up often on model RR boards. This one however, is not even in the top 1,000 for that categorization. As noted above, the use of consisting with the NCE unit is so you can control multiple locomotives like one, when you have said multiple locomotives assigned to the same train.
The only stupid question is the one not asked.
Excellent!!!
One of the smartest things I’ve seen on a forum up to now.
Right On!
Two things to remember, grasshopper: 1. NO One is born with this knowledge. 2. We were all “Newbies” at some time in our hobby. Happy to share what we know/happy to learn what we need to go further. jc5729
or one that includes or implies the person it is directed to is less than qualified to answer it.
One Newbie to another I didn’t think that question was dumb(I was wondering about that myself)
This would have been my answer with one clarification. The train is just a number, that train is composed of a certain number of cars which are called the consist of the train.
Perhaps Bergie could have a glossary put on the site. Why is it that the guy at Loews dosn’t know what Homasote is? I still don’t know myself.[:I]
A question is a question, there are no varying degrees of questions.

There are no stupid questions. Sometimes our answers are not so good.
All questions are created equal…
