As I recall, there was an American kid who got the same business in Singapore back in the '90s. I’m sure he could have given those German kids a real sales talk on why you shouldn’t go “tagging” in Singapore.
Worse than being spanked is being switched–which was my punishment once in the third grade for forgetting to do my arithmetic homework; I do not remember how many strokes the teacher gave me–which scratches or tears the skin when a length of privet which has had the leaves pulled off is used. The caning is far worse yet–the cane is heavy and the caner definitely does not pull his strokes. In Singapore, corporal punishment is punishment. I doubt even a masochist would enjoy Singaporean punishment.
But, then, I wonder if these miscreants appreciate the penalty they incurred through their selfish idiocy.
When I was a kid and was being baby sat by my grandmother; if we did something wrong she sent us to get our own switch to which she would spank us with. We learned very quickly how to pick a switch that would past the test for the purpose of spanking but would also hurt the least. LOL
In today’s society people would freak out over that and scream child abuse and would want to throw my grandmother in jail. LOL The world has sure changed a lot in the short 37 years I’ve been around.
Here in the WA state the penalty would most likely be a misdemeanor with the max penalty of 90 days in jail and $1000 fine. There is about a 99% chance that the individuals would not do any jail time and would pay a small fine. Hold these kids in jail since November just to spank them seems a bit over the top. If they want to plead guilty then let them, spank them and then ship them off back to Germany. Looks like Singapore is craving some attention and is trying to send another world-wide message like they did with the US kid back in the 90’s.
