I know about the static grass applyer from Knok, but I seem to remember an article telling about a way to make a static grass applyer at home, does anyone remember such an article? I think it was an Modelrailroader article.
The results for $4.00 and ten minutes work. The second one allowed me to get in closer to structures and other things using the ABS pipe as the hopper. A narrower pipe, such as 1" would let you in real close.
I just could not bring myself to spend big bucks for the little bit of grass I was doing. If I was to use it a lot, by all means, I would have spent the $$$.
Have a look on You-Tube for how to make one, it’s easy peasy!
While we’re here, I recommend Silflor grass. Woodland Scenics only makes 2mm grass, which looks fuzzy rather than grassy to me for HO. Get 4mm and 6mm and a few colors. Mixing them up gives a more realistic natural look.
I don’t have an informed opinion, but since this is the Internet I can pretend I do. [:D]
Woodland Scenics is also coming out with their “Field System” I suspect it is individual packages of differentl colors and lengths rather than a “kit” of multiple items. It doesn’t look fuzzy in this video, but it may be in real life. Fast forward to 39 minutes
I agree. I mix up in different lengths and shades in the hopper and unless you want a golf green even the grass in my front lawn has different colours depending on the amount of Sun it gets and whether or not it is over the septic field.[(-D] When the gang is in for Saturday night hockey where lots of beer and Rum are consumed, by Sunday morning the grass over the septic tank is leaning to one side.[swg] Just put a new battery in your flyswatter to straighten it out.
One package of field grass I bought even came with these fieldstones you see.
