That is OK the hammer gets dropped on other forums to. Play by the rules and all is well. If you think the egos get big with Model Railroads you should try the racing forums!!!

First off, I guess it depends on one’s definition of “fun”. Is it being silly, as we were on Jarrell’s (jacon12) It slices and it dices!! thread about his new slick invention that he wants to market? Or, is it the back and forth tussle of Smitty’s The high cost of Model Railroading and whether our hobby is growing or dying? (Which I might add has gone a month and a half now - with 202 post - and has yet to be locked.) What one person might define as “fun” maybe something completely different from another’s version of “fun”.
As Crandell has attempted to explain in his original premise, the forum moderators job is to maintain order and free interaction amongst it’s members; at the same time making sure that the forum policies are being properly enforced - without becoming heavy-handed or creating an atmosphere where folks don’t feel that they can express themselves.
Why do we come here to the forum? There’s probably a myriad of answers that all of us could give to this basic question but I’ll attempt to narrow it down to one, in particular. I would reasonably expect that the majority of us come here to the forum to be with, talk to, learn from, and enjoy the company of others who enjoy the same hobby that we are also interested in - i.e. model railroading and/or trains.
