A vintage video of the Bekonscot Model Railway

great video have a nice turkey day and have a nice holiday

The thirties video is simply amazing given the period, but click on the link for the driver’s eye view of the whole line as well. Absolutely fantastic shots. I particularly liked the subtitles that highlighted oncoming trains on the other main. If you view the driver’s eye video, make sure you stay tuned till the very end, the train reverses into the maintenance shed and there are great shots of two other trains. But my very favorite was the kid’s head bobbing up and down behind the hedge. Watch for it.

I was there in the autumn. It has been restored and developed over the years but it’s still a real time warp and altogther different from anything else in the world.

The garden railway is right by the suburban station for a train out of London and well worth a half-day’s trip, a trip back in time!

Andrew Sutton.

Fantastic video. Remember - A Turkey is not for life, it’s just for Xmas.

Thanks for sharing this - very interesting.

Kind of makes you wonder what was going on in those people’s lives back then and everything that has happened since then. Great old silent home video. Is the price still a shilling?

Times like this are to be charished

This video is a real treasure to this hobby. I hope it will be preserved for all to see in the future.

Nice looking layout, it was great to look at. Have a great Holiday Season.

I love the creativity of the garden railroads, the only thing stopping me is the climate. We have too much snow in the winter. I do create H.O. In my basement. If interested I could send video. Thanks Lots. F.H.

Great video----On train views are neat—Brings back memories of yester-year----Of the late 40’s and early 50’s—Thanks and have a very Mery Christmas and Healthy New Year–

A wonderful trip back in time.

fantastic !!!

Very interesting, Very nicely done.

Great video. Loved that Monster Dog crossing the tracks!

Fascinating to watch film from so long ago. Craftmanship is far better than one would expect for the era. In fact, I’d say it is better than a lot that I’ve seen of contemporary garden RRs. Thank you! I really enjoyed the film!

That is marvelous! What a great slice of history.

I don’t think the video is as good as your model deserves. I would like to see your display if I’m ever in England again. Thanks, John
