Aaah jeez!

just found my Bachmann 4-4-0 American and realised I lost the web book mark on the improvements that can be made to this little teakettles.

they have the old large 3 pole motors in the tender and the way under scale tender wheels, need the article that showed motor replacement with a can motor tender wheel replacement ,and improved wheel pick up.

anyone recall where that article can be found?

Edit’ FOUND IT!

I found Intermountain 28" wheels work very well once you file the needle-points down, since you can still use the Bachmann wipers for the grounded wheels.

For the motor, NWSL’s 1220S-9 should be an easy fit, and it has surprisingly good torque for its tiny size (the dual shaft version powers the Stanton drive). The only problem that comes to mind is that you’ll need the 1.0 to 1.5mm shaft adapter to make it fit the Bachmann coupling. I used a larger motor when I did mine a long time ago, and although it works great, it took a lot of modification to the frame to fit it in there.
