aar classification for boom car or cranes tender

a boom car or crane tender used to be assigned to cranes and wrecking derricks.what is the aar classification for such supplies cars?
thanks

There doesn’t appear to be one in the list I have, taken from the July 1949 ORER. MW is used to classify Maintenance of Way cars, with subclasses of MWB for ballast cars, MWD for dump cars, and MWW for wrecking dericks. The only suggestion I can offer is perhaps they were classified under FMS, flat car, specialised.

Hope this helps,

Mark.

thanks mark for your reply.it seems that fms for boom idler cars is the right choice, its that i think too.I will use this classification on boom cars on my freelanced rr co, the columbia and east hamlet RR.
need help anyway

My January 2000 ORER has a class MWC for boom cars with a caboose attached to the body. Cranes are MWU or MWX dependent on whether they are self propelled or able to lift their booms them selves or manually. There are also several designation for flats. SInce most today are diesel p9wered there is no designation for a tender but you can rest assured it would be in the MW class somehwere.

Class FMS is usually assigned to coil flat cars. As mentioned above, anything in maintenance of way service would be in a sub-class of MW.
