This is one of those big box craft stores that always has a 40% off coupon. I guess that business model didn’t work.
But they have stuff we can use, tacky glue, craft foam, craft paint, oil paint and brushes, rolls of cork, balsa. I don’t know what close out prices will be like, but good shopping to you.
I was planning to watch for clearance sales and stock up. However, Michael’s is taking over some of the stores, so not everywhere may have deals.

There pricing was crazy. $7.00 for a can of dullcoat. 2 ounce craft paints for $2.50.

Where I am now in coastal Delaware, there are no A.C Moore’s. I used to go there when I lived I Massachusetts, but if was simply a more convenient location than Michael’s.
If you have Michael’s you prob won’t miss AC Moore. The former is perfect of much of the craft supplies. Michael’s also has a good selection (at least mine) of artist chalks and Testor’s stuff.
I hope Michael’s sticks with their 40% off coupons, now that a big competitor is gone. That coupon was sure a better way to buy Envirotex. Michael’s also carries plaster cloth and balsa wood, and sometimes even a small selection of Woodland Scenics pre-made trees.

I prefer Hobby Lobby anyway. They have Vallejo paints and K&S brass at least.

Michaels is taking over 40 of the 145 stores. I was in AC Moore today, lots of Christmas stuff and the shelves didn’t look empty, I was a little surprised. Nothing I had to buy despite an online 55% off coupon.
I’ve never seen an A.C. Moores, looks like an East coast thing, but Michaels is prominent here, along with Hobby Lobby.
I stroll through Michaels a couple of times a year. Never been to a Hobby Lobby.
I have a great LHS, although it’s about 30 minutes away, I visit a lot during “model railroad season”. They seem to have everything I need, or looking for.

If you were blind folded and dropped in an AC Moore or a Michaels, you would not know the difference. Around here, Hobby Lobby is a bigger store, but about the same.

The only difference I remember is that AC Moore had more woodcrafting items and Michaels had more scrapbooking stuff. They were nearly the same on everything.

Around here we also have a store called “Jo-Anne, Experience The Creativity” which has all kinds of interesting crafting items I don’t find at any other store.

In Tampa there is a physical Dick Blick that has all the good stuff. I make it there a couple of times a year.

I’ve never heard of that store, but we have Michaels, and just got a Hobby Lobby last year. They have woodland scenics, slightly overprice, but with %40 it’s pretty cheap. All there paint stuff is very overpriced though.
Too bad about AC Moore though I did know when I was in New England, the two AC Moore and Michaels were accepting each other coupons. Because I thought they were already owned by the same company. As for as Hobby Lobby no thanks!

Yes, the Hobby Lobby paint prices are very high. When they put the Vallejo paints on “sale”, they are actually at MSRP.
