Accucraft live steam 0-4-0T locomotive

I just bought a Ruby kit to start my live steam hobby. Unfortunately there were many problems in assembling the loco, and I got stucked in the testing part with compressed air. Nothing moves!!! I am a physicist, and I followed the istructions “ad literam”. There were bad matching parts which I had to polish, force etc…I hope I will make it work some day but I am not very optimistic. I bought a Ruby Kit about 2 years ago. I was able to assemble it in less than 3 days. It does take some time to tune, as some parts need to wear-in before the engine will be able to run freely. One Note, the rods that connect the piston valves to the rocker arms were too long, I simply cut them down a little and they work fine now. I love my Ruby. I’m currently kit bashing the body into a 0-4-2 tender engine. Lot’s of fun Philip

Took 6 hours to build, had to look at drawings a few times - I guess that’s what they are there for. One side rod connecting the wheels was a tad too short, causing the wheels to lock. A quick hit with the drill soon fixed that. After re-reading and re-timing the cylinders, the performance of the engine is very good. It does have a noisy burner, I have seen a mod for a quieter design, but maybe Accucraft could do one.
