Hello,
A few years ago my brother acquired an HO scale Spectrum Acela Express set at a train show. The set was the basic 5 car train plus one add-on car, and it did not include the original packaging. Now after riding around in a box that didn’t have sufficient cushioning, the couplers on the cars have been completely destroyed. These are couplers that have where specifically designed for the set, and I don’t know where to get the replacement parts that I need. Does anyone know of a place that sells these unique parts, or must I order them direct from Bachmann, Can I order them direct? Any recommendations would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Jamie
Bachmann has a limited lifetime warrantee on most of their stuff. If you send it back with a check for $15, they will either fix or replace the items.
The parts are also available direct from Bachmann: http://store.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=28. At $1 each, it will probably cost you more in postage.
Because the part is so specialized, I don’t know of any retailer or supplier who stocks them, although most places would be glad to special order it for you (the part number is on the web page linked above).
BTW, I hope your brother has learned his lesson and acquired a suitably padded transportation device (a shoebox lined with foam rubber, available at craft stores, works fine as long as it fits snugly).
