Acme model rr products??

Tho I do not go on this forum at all I was wondering if anybody has ever dealt with Acme regarding the switch controllers? I’d like to know if they are legitimate, beacuse ther prices are ridiculous on the cheap side, and I don’t want to be scammed.

Thanks,

Jerry

They make some pretty serious stuff.

Didn’t Wiley Coyote buy all his things from there?

I’d check into it further, if I were you.

Yes, Wiley is their best customer. I was not aware of anything from them for model railroading.

Haha, good one. Some body makes an ACME trailer, don’t they? I’ve seen it in pictures before.

This is not a big joke, ok?

Um, okay? I was not treating it like a big joke. I remember as a kid watching Wiley use his faulty ACME stuff. I do not know much about ACME products. But that’s know reason for telling me off. So, please, let’s not turn this into a big argument.

Hey Jerry, where did you get the train in your signature?

I have never used them, but the company has been around for many years. Walthers sells their products.

Used one of their push button sets for turnout controllers years ago - I believe it was a bank of 8 pairs. Quality was far better than the Atlas electrical products. Only problem (same with Atlas) was figuring out which buttons worked which turnouts. I swore I would never do another control panel that did not have the electrical switches mounted in a track diagram. And I would only use switch machines that allowed use of a non-momentary toggle switch to indicate which way the turnout was thrown on the layout.

Time has moved on, and I now prefer all my turnouts to be close enough and visible enough to see which way they are thrown at a glance. With walkaround control, the only reason for switch machines instead of ground throws is to avoid putting my big ham hands in the middle of delicate scenery ! Even so, with walk around trhottles, I want strictly local control of turnouts and any block wiring.

My advice would be use the Acme products with confidence where they will suit the way you operate your railroad. Of course advice is usually worth what you pay for it.[:)]

I have the Acme turnout controllers on one of my N scale layouts.
They are a simple, well designed , reliable Turnout controller.
I can also remember their ads in MR back in the 70s.

I’ve used their product # 439 for years. I think it’s the best twin soleniod switch machine controller on the market. You just drill three small holes in the control panel and they are right where they’re supposed to be on the track diagram. I’ve been using them for over 50 years and have yet to replace one of them. I have moved to DPDT with the new tortoise machines.
