I’ve been doing some research on advertising barns seen in Alabama and a few folks have suggested some ideas for some of the more popular examples. I don’t have sufficient room on the layout to model an actual barn, so I printed off some photos, cut the barns out, and attached them to the backscene, to give some ‘local’ flavour to the layout.
Currently there are 4 examples in situ.

Mail Pouch Tobacco is the classic Southern barn advert. One comment, I notice a white line around the edge of your barn photos. If you run a black felt tip marker around the edge of the photo, it will blend in better. Hold the felt tip from the back side of the photo so, in case you slip, the mark will go on the back of the photo instead of the front.

I also use G Paine’s marker tip on paper backgrounds I cut the sky off of. It works very well.
