AHM HO Train Santa Fe GP 18

Iam trying to find out when this locomotive was made ? The locomotive number is 2654 and is a dummy locomotive. I was told late 60’s 0r early 70’s by AHM.

Here is some info: http://tycotrain.tripod.com/ahmhoscaletrainscollectorsresource/

They were made from the early 70s to the mid 80s. They are still available directly from Mehano.

According to the books I have it is not even listed in the parts manuals late 1970’s. But I do know that after AHM went under they sold off allot of the dies and parts for this engine to Bachmann. It had everything the same but Bachman changed it just a bit to make it run better, but still used the 3 pole motor, which you did not dare over heat, these are the same motors that IHC and Model power used for years The late model AHM RS2 had the same drive as the GP 18, eight wheel drive. The early RS2 had a Vertical Motor that only drove the front truck. Bachmann Produced the GP18 for about 4 years beforethey started messing with the plus and Spectrum series. They ran the parts dry and it was over then. Let me look in some more of my paper work, I might be able to find the date.

It still in it’s in the original box. The colors are blue and yellow. There are 15 adds for other locomotives and track.
