Airbrush 1st time question

I’ve got my spray booth, outside vent, airbrush and compressor ready to fire up. I’ve read pertinent articles on this forum and in the books. One question not clear to me… if you are to paint several items with different colors, do you guys stop between each color, disassemble the airbrush, clean it thrououghly, and reassemble… or do you just run cleaner through it and go on to the next color.?

I have a Badger 200 which uses screw on paint jars. Cleaning the brush seems to be a very high priority… but must take some time. Appreciate your responses!

Run cleaner through it until it sprays clear, then connect your new color. after your completely done painting, then take apart the bru***o clean it completely out.

Have fun.

I keep a bottle of the appropriate thinner on hand. When done with one color take it off and spray just enough to get the last of the paint out (just a couple seconds, don’t spray too much or the paint will dry on the inside), then attach the thinner and spray until clear. Switch to new color.

Agree with the guys above. One little tip, just to hedge your bets a little in case of some “rougue glob”. When you can, try and spray your lightest colors first. Say, white, then, yellow, then brown, etc. Alway easier to cover up that way then the other way around. [:)]

It’s no problem for me. I use an external mix airbrush. All I have to do is remove the bottle and spray cap I’m using and attach the next one.

Thanks everyone for the quick response! As always, this forum gives the answers. Thanks.
