Alco RF1

My local area railroad (Atlanta and St. Andrew’s Bay aka the Bayline) donated one of their old locomotives awhile back to our Jr. Museum. I contacted the rail management company and was told that it was an Alco RF1 model.

Does anyone know if any of the model companys have ever made an RF1 model in HO scale? I would like to paint one to match these markings, but I am having trouble finding the correct body style to begin.

Thanks for all your help.

There is no RF-1 class. That’s an RS-1 that has had the short hood lowered at some point. I don’t think anyone makes one with the short hood. Atlas made a very good one several times and made them with both roller bearing and friction bearing side frames. If you want to duplicate it you will probably have to kitba***he low hood before painting.

ARR had Two RS-1’s Rebuilt as RF-1 Streamlined Locomotives.

Here’s a link to a model kit bash. Joe

Do we have some confusion here over the Alaska RR vs. the Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay? Except for the fact that they both begin with A, it would be hard to find any two American railroads that are farther apart in geography, operations, etc.

I know Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay had RS-1’s, but the RF-1 is a new one on me.
