Proto 2000 GP30 painted for ICG and GM&O came with the proper trade-in Alco trucks so they should be available from Walthers.
GE B-Boat sideframes should work too as Alco & GE both used the same sideframes for a time. The trucks on a U25B and a Alco C425 were the same.
If Walthers doesn’t have them, you can also use Athearn’s GE AAR sideframes if the mounting hasn’t changed and I don’t believe it has.
Proto ALCo trucks are different than Proto EMD trucks. The wheelbases are different, and sideframes will not interchange. Old Athearn GE style sideframes will fit the Proto EMD (Athearn clone) trucks. If you can find some, the Proto ALCo trucks are very nice.
Also, make sure you have the mid-size fuel tank. The long fuel tank won’t fit with the ALCo trucks, same as in 1:1 scale.
He’s got the Proto EMD trucks, that’s why I suggested the Athearn sideframes, they would not require any modififications. You’re right about the Proto AAR trucks, you would have to replace the trucks and modify or replace the fuel tank to make things fit. So, while the Athearn side frames aren’t as nice as the protos, it’s the easiest way to go, (and cheap).
