almost thrown out...

My brother, who is working at a recycling center over winter break, was at work when a man came with a box full of “junk” asking if anyone had kids. My brother saw same train stuff and said he did (me).

There was a marx #438 crossing gate with a beat up Box, a marx searchlight tower witha beat up box, tube of lionel lubricant (postwar), a marx 027 crossover, and a plasticville airport in a pretty nice condition box.

Havent tested anything yet but was wondering about the airport… is it worth anything?

Awesome luck, Dude!

I work with people who have brought me in free trains. Same goes for my wife. It’s always a huge thrill! Especially when it’s unexpected. Someone just shows up with a box of “junk” and my eyes bug! I’ve even converted free locomotives I didn’t want into cash to buy some nice post war locos.

Enjoy your freebies! [tup]

To try to answer your question, the airport is not worth that much. It is worth holding onto as it can be used for a variety of things. You could use it as is, but with a little paint, it could be a warehouse, or any number of other businesses. I doubt you could get more than $10.00 for it, so it would be worth more to use it.

Lucky find dude.

thanks for the info. Im going to keep the airport. Not worth selling and a nice kit to add to the collection. Hope everyone has a safe and happy new years eve!

well, between watching football and sleeping I took a better look at the contents of the box. After putting together the airport I like it even more. Only missing the railing for the top of the tower…but thats no big deal. Also, tested the marx crossing gate and it works great!

There was an instruction sheet at the bottom of the box for a Lionel 1465W scout set. Hopefully that guy will come to my brother’s work with a second box of “junk” [;)]

Congratulations, John! Here’s hoping the guy does return with more treasures for you!
