American Flyer 342 Running well now (Video and Pics)

Here’s a video update to a previous post of mine. My American Flyer 342 is now running well after a thorough cleaning, new brushes and springs. The armature is original although I’m still thinking about replacing it. I also purchased a C&N.W. RY. 42597 crane car at an antique store for about $42. I hope that price was OK.

Oh, rub it in Hector. Oh well, at least mine goes that fast in reverse.

Hey, where’s the smoke? Gotta have smoke. I love the smell of smoke fluid in the morning.

Looking real good, though, congrats.

Great job on the 342. The switchers are some of my favorites! Nice looking crane car too.

Thanks! It’s been a blast to work on. I can’t wait for the nieces and nephews to run the trains for Christmas.

Congrats and nice job. It just goes to show you that with a little work and these 60+ year old engines can still bring a smile to a childs (and adults) face.

Very nice. I like your layout
