AmFlyerTom,
Absolutely gorgeous. Photos like this show Gilbret American Flyer off at its best.

I do not repaint cars because I suck at painting. I have purchased professionally repainted cars to get PRR versions.
Thanks Greg, I thing the S gauge AF looks great on any type of layout. From a circle on the carpet under the tree to on a large scale layout.
Geez, AmFlyerTom, that photo, that layout, are both spectacular. So beautifully done, including the holiday trim.
I have a Dept 56 North Pole collection that I put up between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, but I have never run the American Flyer trains around it. I really need to do that. Once again, very nicely done.
Rich
Really neat!
Thanks Rich. It is a fairly simple layout with just enough details to be interesting. I built that over a weekend for Christmas. The Snow Village really makes the layout. Most of the Snow Village buildings are very close to 1/64th scale. Some of the houses are 1/64th but many are about 1/50th. Just need to use care when selecting them.
AmFlyerTom,
Another fun photo. Your earlier post reminded me that I have a copy paper box full of Road Champs/Racing Champs cars and trucks that I used on my S gauge layout. Great fun and great memories.
I also used many farm buildings, trucks and equipment with my Flyer trains. They were all approximately 1/64. I got them through the Fleet Farm store in the town that I lived.
Greg
They were Ertl “Farm Country”
Yes, it has often been said that Dept 56 buildings are suitable for S gauge.
Just for kicks, I will post a daytime and a nighttime photo of my North Pole.
Great Picture! A perfect way to display the collection. It takes up a lot less space than a layout.
I missed that train in the foreground!
Here is a closeup picture and a longer view of a winter scene layout I had in my office for about a year. This one used almost all Plasticville and some 1/64 scale cars and trucks.
I am out of control. Gotta post one last one. This is actually Snow Village, but I call it North Woods.
Beautiful, and your cars are in much better shape than mine.
Rich
I see the Hidden Ponds house in the North Woods. It is right on 1/64 scale, I use it frequently for holiday layouts.
Yeah, I love the colors on that one. For anyone interested, it is on the far right of the upper row.
Rich
Here is the Hidden Ponds house on the left under our tree this past Christmas. My wife insists there be a train under the tree. I used SHS track because I needed 25” radius track to go around the tree skirt.
Remind me of the name of the house next to Hidden Ponds.
AmFlyerTom,
I assume that the tracks in the snow are intended to represent the tire tracks of your vehicles and not “tracks” for running the vehicles.
Well Done,
Greg
Rich, I do not recall the name, I will look later and post it.
Greg, correct. They just represent the paving showing through where the cars and trucks would have driven in real life. They add some visual interest to the scene.
It took about 20 minutes to make those tracks in the snow. I hold one of the truck cabs and run the front wheels over the styrofoam to make grooves. My wife then provides a mascara tube and brush. I run the mascara brush through the tracks and its done.
